Over the last few years the Foundation Skill Training Package (FSK) has been reviewed and revised. This review was the first opportunity to reflect on the use and the content of the FSK after its initial implementation across Australia.

After much consultation and many discussions, a revised structure for the FSK was created and units were revised and updated to reflect the feedback received. This webinar outlined the major changes and enhancements to the FSK qualifications and units.

Bio of Presenter

David Tout is widely recognised as one of Australia's leading adult literacy and numeracy personnel, and has worked in schools, TAFEs, ACE, university, AMES and workplaces, with over 40 years’ experience in the VET sector. He has wide experience in training, and in state, national and international research, curriculum, assessment and materials development. Dave had major responsibility for the numeracy domain of the ACSF. He is currently a member of the Education Industry Reference Committee that oversees the FSK, and is the Chair of the Numeracy Expert Group responsible for the numeracy component of the OECD’s international PIAAC survey of adult skills.

David is currently a Senior Research Fellow in Numeracy and Mathematics at ACER.
