2017 Virtual VET Summit Recording: Mapping for Quality Assurance

Recorded on 15/03/2017 this session explored the reasons behind mapping as a quality assurance process, and unpacked specific examples to highlight how valuable mapping can be.

Topic Overview:

Ensuring your assessment covers the unit of competency it is assessing is a requirement of Clause 1.8 of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015. The most straight forward way of ensuring and demonstrating this is through mapping the assessment against the unit.

This session unpacked the importance of mapping as a key way of identifying how assessment meets unit requirements.  It provided solid examples of mapping both unit by unit and clustered assessment.

Bio of presenter:

Kerri Buttery has worked in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector for over 17 years as a Trainer/Assessor, RTO Manager and also as a Senior Lead Auditor. Kerri has worked as a consultant for a range of organisations in the areas of establishing Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), conducting internal audits, consulting on VQF compliance, developing a number of accredited courses, convening state and national conferences, developing training and assessment materials, conducting professional development workshops and conducting Certificate IV in Training and Assessment workshops. She has authored several textbooks and has experience lecturing and tutoring at university. Kerri is currently employed by Velg Training as the Director of VET Content Development.
